"The Tango is not a dance but an obsession. For the
tanguero, it is as much a part of life as eating and
sleeping. Erotic and passionate, haunting and melancholy,
it involves not only the body but also the soul..."

Fardad Michael Serry and Julie Stillman are pupils of Julio Balmaceda and Corina De La Rosa, arguably the top partner couple in the younger generation of milongueros from Buenos Aires, and one of the most musical of all tango dancer souples. Fardad was blessed to get his first tango and milonga coaching in extended private lessons with Alberto Paz and Valorie Hart, and continues to study with Alberto and Valori every year. Fardad and Julie dance and teach with a style that emphasizes musicality, partner connection, and good technique, not steps and combinations. When Fardad and Julie won the Gold Award for tango and for milonga, they scored their highest points for musicality, at the 2005 competitions of the World Council for Argentine Tango Events festival in San Diego, Professional Category, Rising Star division. (Adjudicated by Miriam Larici, Hugo Patyn, Fernanda Ghi, and Guillermo Merlo).

Fardad is a classically trained musician, also playing the jazz trumpet and flugelhorn. Julie is a trained teacher with a graduate degree in education and years of teaching experience with all age groups. She studies tango and milonga with Julio and Corina, and with Miriam Larici and Hugo Patyn. Fardad is also a pupil of Miriam and Hugo and of Yolanda Rossi, and he studies also with Pablo Pugliese, and with Diego Di Falco and Carolina Zokalski. Fardad was teacher and performer by invitation at the Las Vegas 2004 International Tango Festival.
